Fitzroy River weir set to bring extra water for agriculture and industry as $352m funding is announc


But while a long-discussed central Queensland water infrastructure project finally looks set to go ahead, it is still unclear who will be able to reap the benefits.

After years of negotiations, promises and increased costings, a weir along the Fitzroy River at Rookwood, 60 kilometres south-east of Rockhampton, today secured the joint federal and state funding needed for its $352m construction.
